Wool Felt Flowers... So much fun and perfect for Back to School!

I have really been enjoying this new adventure of mine! As a pretty crunchy stay at home mom of two cute little munchins, I really appreciate having time for my creative side to come out. I really have noticed more and more how much I have in common with my past family members and my mom especially in regards to making and arranging flowers. I really love pastels and all things fun and whimsical and vintage but mostly I love anything flower related so my new recent venture in making wool felt hair flowers for girls and ladies has been a ton of fun for me! I love making custom pieces, too, so feel free to message me I would love to work with you!

Here are a few of my recent creations! You will see the vintage and shabby chic look and of course we will love a little bit of princess added in, too! :) I adore these, and adore how cute they look on such sweet little girls! Here are a few recent creations but you can see more on my facebook page at: www.sweetlittleblossoms.facebook.com and in my store on etsy at: www.sweetlittleblossoms.etsy.com. Stop in at my facebook page before Sept. 15th to enter my giveaway for up to a $35 credit to me store! Have a great day and stay tuned, I will show you a fun tutorial next week!

My story.... Part 1

In my college days I made an attempt in one of my anthropology classes to find some deeper family history of my love of gardening and planting and digging in the dirt if you will. This was an assignment for me at the time so I interviewed my farmer and gardener grandpa and my aunts and my dad who are all avid gardeners, not to mention my mom, who loves all things flowers and did floral design when I was younger.

Then last week out of the blue my mom mentioned to me again that my great grandmother, her father's mother, was a very accomplished hat maker before she married my great grandfather in her late 30's. She married late for that time (1930's) so she had been working as a hat maker for quite some time and had gone to school for hat making. She gave up a very accomplished career in hat making when she married my great grand father, he must have been one catch of a guy!

This brings me to a start at my digging and finding meaning to my crafting and my story. I do love to work with flowers in many ways: in the garden, with fabric and felt, on my walls as photos, everywhere really, but this is just a start to my journey and my inspiration. As I continue in the process of learning about myself and my crafting history I have also started to create some pieces with hints of the past that I would like to share with you! Here are a few using vintage millinery flowers that I have made recently:

Some of these pieces are listed on Etsy and some will be listed in the future. Millinery flowers in short are flowers used in hat making and have been used for many purposes in history. Next week I will share more of my story and the history of Millinery (hat making). This is a fun journey for me and I hope you will enjoy it along with me!

Baby flower love....

Over the last few weeks I have decided that I really wanted to do some cute photos to show my little hair pieces and flowers in action. To my luck, I had some really cute pictures from one of my first customers! Isn't this little baby just too cute! I so wish I would have been able to capture pictures like this of my babies when they were little. Such precious first moments! This really inspired me and now I will be adding lots of colors and styles to these little blossoms in the future, I will be adding some really cute little wool felt hair flowers very soon, too, and can't wait to have some more fun creating! Come see my new creations on etsy at www.sweetlittleblossoms.etsy.com and like me on facebook at www.sweetlittleblossoms.facebook.com

Time to plant...

Not only do I love to make cute little fabric flowers but I also love to garden as well, especially flower garden. I don't have as much time to do this with two little ones as I used to, but just the same every year I take out my pots to refill full of flowers to enjoy all summer long. My little 2.5 year old, A, was helping me yesterday to fill the pots with potting soil and she was having so much fun just shoveling and playing in the dirt. She got dirt in her hair and fingernails and on her face. I think she wanted to see what it tasted like (ewww). We both just loved it!

We finished up our flower pots and I planted my little vegetable garden and herb garden. It is just one little area up close to the house. I call it my kitchen garden. We are also working on our fairy garden in the backyard, it is a wooded area on our little lot that we have planted lots of plants in and we are collecting little fairy houses and things to make it a fun play area for the girls. All of this fun outdoor play with dirt and flowers inspires me to want to create more Sweet Little Blossoms. A little piece of my favorite things for you to enjoy! Have a great week and enjoy spring!
